Turks and Caicos will celebrate Commonwealth Day on Monday 11 March under the theme ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’.

According to the official Commonwealth website, the theme for 2024 “highlights how the 56 member countries must harness their strengths by building resilience, unlocking potential, leveraging the ‘Commonwealth Advantage’ and fostering a connected, digital Commonwealth. This transformation is vital to ensure a resilient common future where no one is left behind.”

In a press release, Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland, added: “We have countries which are amongst both the smallest and largest in the world. What binds us together is our shared values, and those include a commitment to ensuring stronger and stable governance, a more sustainable environment, robust economies, and societies that empower Commonwealth citizens.”

Commonwealth Day is a public holiday in TCI and a chance for citizens to reflect on being part of the bloc which includes billions of people in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Americas, the Pacific, and Europe.

The day is observed by all Commonwealth members but only TCI and Gibraltar have a bank holiday to mark the occasion.

This year on 26 April, the 75th anniversary of the modern Commonwealth will also be celebrated.
