General Information

Incorporated in 1984, the Copyright Music Organisation of Trinidad and Tobago (COTT) is a nonprofit making membership organisation. Our members comprise songwriters, composers, lyricists, and music publishers of all genres.

Operating since January 1985, we administer the public performance, broadcasting, communication to the public, mechanical reproduction and synchronisation rights granted by law to the creators and owners of original music.

COTT is the premier collecting society for composers and the protection of musical works in Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Caribbean. Our income and administrative expertise have afforded us such regional recognition. Additionally, we are the founding member of the Caribbean Copyright Link (CCL), the umbrella body for the collecting societies in the Caribbean.

Our services include licensing the use of music in traditional, new and evolving formats, i.e.
collecting royalties for the use and mechanical reproduction of music as well as increasing royalty distributions to right-holders.

We also work to educate the public on the importance and value of music and advise government and non-governmental institutions on music rights. And we assign local liaisons to international stakeholders to discuss issues on music rights.
