SSITL was formed in 2002 and registered as a limited liability company in 2003. The company is headed by Managing Director, Henry Donny Ramtahal.
It is divided into four operating disciplines:
Marine Escape Systems
Mechanical Lifting
Load testing
Offshore Quarters
Currently there is a complement of 15 full time staff, part time specialist professional staff and an additional labour pool of technicians from which SSITL draws temporary labour as required by the existing workload.
SSITL operates under a philosophy of empowerment of employees. Thus employees who
have the capability and show the interest are cross-trained as far as practicable. This gives flexibility in assignment of work and can minimize POB which is sometimes critical for customers. This is an on-going developmental process.
SSITL also uses a network of service companies to provide services such as machine shop, , transport, non-destructive testing, engine overhaul and engineering.
