Since our company formation in 1995 we (Simon Wood Associates Ltd. aka SWA Architects) have maintained our position as one of the leading design practices in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Founded on the principals of, integrity, imagination, appropriateness and attention to detail, our firm has gone from strength to strength widening its experiences, expertise and portfolio to include some of the most prominent and prestigious projects completed in the Turks and Caicos. We believe our strength lies in our commitment to design excellence and our dedication to providing closely coordinated local representation for our clients. We provide our (mostly overseas) clients the advantage of a locally based reliable professional team to always secure their best interests. We offer a full range of professional services to monitor and inspect the work on site, manage the finances on the job and administer the construction contract between the owner and contractor. We are also qualified and able to assist in liaising on legal, planning, bank and financing issues, all associated with normal construction, landscape design and implementation, interior design and purchasing. Fully computerised, we are connected to the world and work closely with other architects and engineers from USA, Canada, UK and Europe over the internet. Client contact has never been easier, project reports and construction progress photographs are transmitted instantly and our continually growing list of satisfied clients is a testimony to our commitment to provide the best possible service. In addition to our locally based team we draw as needed on the expertise of our experienced off-island staff and associated consultants for additional support in the fields of architecture, engineering, interior and landscape design, marketing and environmental science. Our practice maintains a youthful approach to design, at the heart of which is the lively imagination of our principal staff who each boast pedigree qualifications and who are recognised for their outstanding design ability. Careful analysis of the clients' needs and desires, balanced with dutiful consideration of budget and site constraints enable the delivery of designs that are always appropriate in form, function and cost. A keen respect for local heritage, culture and environment ensures appropriate structures that stand the test of time. Simon Wood, completed his formal architectural education at The University of Sheffield, England in 1987. He has concentrated his professional career within the tourism and resort development markets in and around the Caribbean ever since. Gathering experience primarily in resort hotel design and development, Simon has been involved with work in Florida, Bahamas, Mexico, Cuba, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Panama, St. Kitts, Grenada, Mustique, Martinique and Turks and Caicos. Simon moved with his family to the Turks and Caicos islands in 1990 and established LPW Architects. He successfully managed this company until incorporating Simon Wood Associates Ltd. (SWA) in November 1995.
