Yello Juice Bar: Drink Your Way To A Healthy Heart with Our Hearty Fusion Smoothie

Heart disease is one of the most serious health threats we face today.  It is the most prevalent cause of death worldwide.  Its impact is profound and its various types are well known.  Whether it is heart failure, coronary artery disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or heart attack, our lifestyle choices aid in lowering the risks.

While some types of heart diseases are congenital (you’re born with it), there are those which develop over time as a result of a poor diet and daily practices. In either case, embracing a greater consciousness of your health and revising your habits can lead to a healthier you, and a healthier heart.

We want to help.  So, in this issue of Yello Juice Bar, we present a juice recipe with watermelon and raspberries. These two fruits are known for containing nutrients that aid in heart health.

One of the most notable nutrients watermelons possess is lycopene.  Lycopene is a type of phytonutrient (a type of natural plant chemical) that promotes cardiovascular and bone health.   The nutrient is also found in tomatoes, but watermelons have a higher content.  Watermelon is also rich in antioxidants.

Meanwhile, raspberries pack a similar punch in maintaining a healthy heart.  These little berries are rich in vitamins C and K and manganese. According to Medical News Today, high in flavonoid (antioxidants with inflammatory and immune system benefits), it lowers the risk of death from cardiovascular diseases.

All that being said, get your blender ready.  This recipe though simple packs a wallop in your battle against heart disease.

A Hearty Fusion
