Colourful kites of all shapes and sizes will be visible in the sky over Antigua on Monday 1 April, when the 19th annual International Kite Festival takes place at Indian Town National Park.

A popular Easter tradition for kite enthusiasts, the annual festival at Devil’s Bridge is run by local non-profit organisation CPKites

The event usually attracts hundreds of people of all ages eager to see if their homemade kites will fly during the height of the windy season. In previous years, kite makers from Canada, Haiti, Bulgaria, and the US have travelled to Antigua to take part.

Prizes are awarded for the biggest corporate kite, smallest kite, biggest kite, and the People’s Choice Most Kites in the Air.

The entry fee is $5 (EC). Children 10 years old and younger are free. There will be vendors selling food and drink, as well as live entertainment, and other family-based activities.

This event is a fun opportunity to see bright and bold kites from all over the world soaring through Antigua’s blue sky, and to celebrate our long-standing kite-making tradition.
